TVSCIA S/S 15 : BLACK and WHITE and RED

IMG_1294

Fashion Week is draining and stressful. The process of business and the commercial realities of our war and recession wracked world drains the fun and creativity out of what should be a celebration of beauty. So we like to mix things up by using our space as a creative laboratory. To play with images and styling , personalities and places to shed new light and subvert solidifying mind-sets before they become stuck.

When red-haired Fine-Artist Kris and tattooed Designer Pernilla wear TVSCIA side by side a new perspective is created. A fresh range of possibilities are opened. Urban and sophisticated. Street is Sex(y) .Red and white and black. What else does one really need ?

A NEW CROSS ASHES : S/S 15 : WOMEN’S LOOK BOOK PICTURES

IMG_0398 copyThe ANC dedicated womens’ line ASHES which debuted in STEALTH this season shared some unisex pieces with the Mens line as well as some of the psychedelic touches and  Jodorowsky feeling.. However this was a very different Holy Mountain and the dramatic , feminine power of the pieces can be easily seen when modeled in this look-book by our similarly striking model Aspen.

Due to the time constraints of flying from Columbia to Germany to Paris this season ANC Designer Nico decided to shoot the look-book on location in the gallery using our resident Designer / Manager Xtian as his model. The ANC silhouette continues to evolve and warp and go to strange and interesting places evoking memories of Jodorowsky and psychedelic gauchos in European climes.

IMG_1395

We already posted some truly beautiful images of the debut collection by Paris-based Moon Kim but during the last exhibition our resident photographer Amelie Sjöstrand Gereholt was able to work with our regular team member and muse Eri to bring yet another dimension of beauty to the equation. So many lovely images that I have split them into color and monochrome shots. Please enjoy.

On the eve of the exhibition in Paris we are very happy to share some selected images from the new look book. Sleek tailoring , unexpected cuts , details , prints and colors all make this an even more beautiful rendition of the very strong and focused Tvscia aesthetic.

SID NEIGUM : S/S 2015 COLLECTION : MODULAR ORIGAMI

NICO9167This season Canadian Designer Sid will be presenting a new collection in Paris which has been inspired by and uses the concept of Modular Origami as well as his continuing interest in package design.

Modular Origami is simply the process of folding multiple numbers of an origami unit to create a larger and more complex structure . The first historical evidence for a modular origami design comes from a Japanese book by Hayato Ohoka published in 1734 called Ranma Zushiki.

Research and development began with creating modular origami paper sculptures and studying the way 3 dimensional structures could be built from 2 dimensional modules.

After studying Kusudama ( balls of paper flowers ) and Sonobe Modules, the same modular shapes used in paper origami were laser cut into fabrics.  These fabric modules were then “woven” together to create garment details or, in some cases, full garments.

Sonobe is a type of modular origami, this piece below is 600 laser cut sonobe modules that were sewn together by hand. It is the aim of the Designer to create an aesthetic which exists somewhere between high-tech and artisanal and can combine the best aspects of the two.

The new collection will also feature unisex pieces that 26 year old Sid has created with personal use in mind.

YUHL JUNG S/S 2015 : “SUNYATA” DETAIL SHOTS

D 1 copy2The following images are not official look-book shots but are simply to show the quality of the work and the materials used. Most of the raw materials are selected with meticulous attention and made with genuine care in small ateliers in France. Each of the fabrics may seem fragile and powerless on their own but as the layers of the fabrics add up and come together as a garment they yield a strength that creates protection for the wearer.

YUHL JUNG S/S 2015 COLLECTION : “SUNYATA”

3

SUNYATA : emptiness , voidness , free from earthly perceptions ( of right and wrong ); the state of ultimate reality.”

We are very proud to present these new concept images from Paris-based Label YUHL JUNG. Creative Director Moon Kim was born in Korea , spent his childhood traveling in South America and studied Psychology and Design in New York and then Paris. More recently he has worked for Fashion Houses such as Rick Owens until finally making the conscience-led decision to create his own project and label , the mission of which is to spread a positive resonance through his creations and a message of benevolence, nonviolence, and unconditional compassion through his work. He balances his creative work with his meditation practices in the hope that it will lead ultimately to a greater awakening and understanding both for himself and for those who see and wear it. The label name YUHL JUNG actually means  ‘a clear flow like water.’

This is the debut collection for the label which embodies the core values of the Designer. The idea of the emptiness of the Sanskrit word “Sunyata” is a positive state which is full of endless possibilities which are explored in these designs. A very hopeful and optimistic message for hard times. Sunyata is represented by the predominant white tones and the combined strength created by layering delicate fabrics such as bio-washed cotton and delicate , translucent linens. Each of the fabrics may seem fragile and powerless on their own but as the layers of the fabrics add up and come together as a garment, they yield a strength that creates protection for the wearer on their journey to enlightenment.

Moon Kim seeks to convey a genuine message through his label : of values such as compassion, self-discipline and nonviolence that can be hard to find in this industry and society in general. In this way he feels somewhat opposed to the normal way that things are run and hopes to offer a more positive perspective in order to bring balance to the industry.

YUHL JUNG will debut in Paris this September. Please click on these individual images to get the full power of all the details.
